Liverpool have reportedly taken the first steps in trying to sign Blackburn Rovers midfielder Damien Duff.

Trustworthy sources claim that the Reds have made Duff's representatives aware that there could be an opening for him at Anfield in the summer if the player is up for a switch.

Reports suggest that the Reds are prepared to pay around £10million for the 22-year-old who has been watched numerous times this season.

Brett Emerton and Barry Ferguson are also included on Houllier's summer short-list but don't be surprised if a new name is thrown into the hat out of the blue.
