"I always set myself goals," said Diouf. "In life you have to keep striving to improve, no matter what profession you're in.
"Before the World Cup I said I wanted to establish myself as one of the 10 best players in the world. Everybody laughed at me.
"Then after the tournament I was voted the world's seventh best player. That gave me a great deal of satisfaction.
"Now I'm at Liverpool my objective is to become the best player in the world. This year I hope to score at least 15 goals in the league and ultimately help Liverpool win the title."
