Liverpool Striker Divock Origi Set to Be Rewarded for Derby Day Winner With Start Against Burnley

Liverpool's Merseyside derby hero Divock Origi is set to be handed a rare start in the Premier League when the Reds travel to Turf Moor to face Burnley on Wednesday night.

The Belgium international came off the bench to capitalise from Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford's injury-time howler, and give Jurgen Klopp's side a 1-0 victory at the weekend.

Now, according to a tweet from the Daily Mail's Dominic King, the early indications are that Klopp will reward the 23-year-old's heroics with a place in the first-team for Wednesday's clash.

Prior to the Merseyside derby, Origi had only featured in one Champions League game for the Reds this season and had seemingly fallen out of favour at Anfield.

However, his role in Liverpool's last-gasp derby victory has brought his name back into the first-team fold and is now in contention to start ahead of both Roberto Firmino and Daniel Sturridge at Turf Moor.

Another seemingly forgotten man, Alberto Moreno, is also in line to come in for Liverpool at left-back after making just the one Premier League appearance this season.

King reports that first-choice left-back Andrew Robertson is unlikely to play a part at Turf Moor, whilst the injury picked up by Sadio Mane in the second half of the game against Everton is also set to him rule out for the midweek game.

After Manchester City's 2-1 victory away at Watford on Tuesday evening saw the Citizens go five points clear at the top of the Premier League, Liverpool have the chance to close the gap back to just two with a victory against Sean Dyche's Burnley side.
