Liverpool target Brett Emerton has spoken out to deny that he has agreed a switch to Newcastle United.

Reports in recent weeks suggest that the Aussie winger is on the verge of completing a move to the north east. There is no denying that Bobby Robson is confident of landing a player that he has tracked for most of the season but we maintain that Liverpool have not cooled their interest just yet.

Emerton could sign for an English club this week if the reports are true and while the press are confident he's bound for the Toon Army, don't write Liverpool off just yet.

Asked about his transfer situation and the reports that he's already agreed a deal with Newcastle, and Emerton said: "There's not much I can say other than to deny that I've already signed with Newcastle.

"I've read all the talk and I've got my personal preference if Feyenoord do decide to sell me to an English club."
