Liverpool target midfielder - Southampton want Barmby

Kop Talk reports that the 25-year-old Latvian is a summer target and talks are already believed to have been held between the Reds and Wednesday night's Premiership opponents but neither side is likely to confirm such.
Southampton are also believed to have registered an interest in Liverpool's Nick Barmby and a deal that would see him go the other way is likely to be discussed.
Pahars can play as a striker or in midfield.
