The 22-year-old has become increasingly frustrated at club manager lan Curbishley's insistence on using him as a make-shift left-sided midfielder while preferring veteran Chris Powell in his favoured left-back position. In a bid to win a place in England's Euro 2004 squad, Konchensky feels now is the time to seek pastures new.

With a move for Damien Duff still very much on the knife-edge, the Reds may see Konchesky as a fine option to play left-back if John Arne Riise is asked to fill in regularly on the left flank.
