Liverpool to play in South Africa?

The club are set to make a decision about their tour of Hong Kong and China in the next two weeks following the SARS outbreak, and have been asked to take part in South Africa's summer tournament to promote their 2010 World Cup bid.

"At this stage the venture is still on the drawing-board and nothing concrete has been finalised," said bid chief executive Danny Jordaan. "I will be speaking to Liverpool shortly and hopefully they will agree to play in this new tournament which will be another vehicle to launch our bid to the world."
