As expected Chris Kirkland replaces Jerzy Dudek in goal. Patrik Berger was hoping to get a chance, but is now ruled out with an ankle injury. Bruno Cheyrou is also injured, and Michael Owen, Dietmar Hamann and Danny Murphy are expected to be rested in favour of El Hadji Diouf, Salif Diao and Igor Biscan.
