Xabi Alonso is expected to return to the side after missing Saturday's game with West Brom with Steve Finnan making way for him.

Rafael Benitez is also expected to stick with Djibril Cisse up front, and play Luis Garcia in a free role behind him, with Milan Baros on the bench should he be needed.
