Madness at Anfield as defender allowed to leave

Liverpool have given young defender Stephen Wright permission to speak to Sunderland regarding a proposed transfer.

Home grown talent
Sunderland have offered a ridiculous £1.5million fee for the 22-year-old England Under 21 star who has 2 years left to run on his current deal which he recently extended because he wanted to stay at the club.

The signing of Abel Xavier has obviously shafted Wright's progression which is a real shame as he was a graduate of our youth programme.

No doubt the club will blame the transfer market for the low transfer fee should he move on but why allow to sell him in the first place. Surely it's about time some of the cling-ons who are collecting huge transfer wages were shown the door ahead of English talent and he is after all, a quality player.

Wright's possible departure comes as no surprise to us as we reported months ago on the Insider that he was unsettled.

Hopefully any proposed move will fall through because we will be saddened if he leaves.
