Areias said:"I had a meeting with Liverpool in December but I don't know if they are still interested. That will become clearer in the next two weeks.
"When I met Gérard Houllier he was interested at that moment but since then there have been no developments. I have talked about the future with Savio and one of the countries he would like to go is England.
"He considers the football to be very professional and he thinks it would suit his style. He is keen because it would help him professionally and personally as he would also be able to learn English."
While Houllier seems likely to prefer Blackburn's Damien Duff, he knows only too well that such a move would be thwarted by the club's financiers if Champions League football is not achieved for next season. Savio, who would not require a work-permit as he holds dual French-Brazilian nationality, may become a more realistic option for the Reds.
