The 20 year old Republic Under 21 player said he was delighted with the new deal.
"I'm really pleased. I had two years left on my contract but the club have given me an extra year. It's fantastic news for me. The manager has been great with me this season. I've been involved regularly in the squad and played a good amount of games," Potter told the club's website.
