The match could prove to be pivotal in Liverpool's season, with a defeat effectively ending any lingering hopes for a title challenge. United, on the other hand, will be looking to keep up with title favourites, Chelsea.

And Evra believes the status of both clubs and rivalry between the sides gives the match world wide appeal.

"Manchester United against Liverpool is the biggest club game in the world. The atmosphere is really special. People come up to you in the street saying, 'Come on Pat' because the result is so important," Evra said.

He added, "This is our second really big game of the season and we have to do better than we did in the last one. It is far too early to say we are going to win certain competitions but at the moment things are looking very positive and we must continue that by beating Liverpool."

It is estimated that the match will attract an audience of over 500 million viewers across the globe.
