Mannix, who has been impressing reserve coaches Hugh McAuley and Paco Herrera since his return to reserve action after a previous long injury lay-off, broke his leg while playing for the second string against Newcastle on Monday night.
Mannix in unlikely to require surgery but the injury is still likely to rule him out for the rest of the season.
