Cheyrou has struggled to find the form that saw him dubbed the 'new Zidane' by former Reds boss Gerard Houllier, but Agnio feels the French international midfielder will prove a fine acquisition for his side.
Agnio said: "I wanted Bruno to come to Marseille, he is a good player and the club needs men like him.
"He is smart and it was one of my main aims to recruit him. He is also talented, has a good left foot and is very athletic.
"I know he wants to take his revenge after a disappointing season with Liverpool. He has the right profile and mentality to succeed with Marseille."
