Mascherano deal on

Under FIFA rules a player isn't allowed to play for three teams in a twelve month period. However, they have relaxed that rule in the past and have agreed to do so again if Liverpool sign Javier Mascherano from West Ham.

FIFA released a statement saying: "After due consideration of all aspects, the Fifa single judge ruled that, 'Upon registration for Liverpool FC during the present registration period, the player Javier Mascherano is eligible to play in official matches with the said club with immediate effect'."

Although FIFA have granted Mascherano the right to play for Liverpool, the Reds must still get permission from the Premier League before the deal can go through.
