McAllister pushing for Partridge deal

Partridge has been a revelation during his loan spell with the first division side and McAllister would like to manage the young Irishman on a permanent basis.

The Coventry boss said: "The problem is he is no secret any more and I think he has caught the eye of others so it is up to us to do something on that score.

"We have got him until the end of the season but he is still Liverpool's player, so I will have to check where we stand in terms of any other clubs coming in for him.

"Come the end of the season when Richie has been out and experienced first team football I would imagine he won't want to go back and play for the reserves at Liverpool, so there is a player who wants first team experience and to play in front of a big crowd.

"He has been a breath of fresh air since he has been here and a joy to work with. I knew he would be from my time at Anfield and he has been excellent bar one or two games when he has maybe struggled a bit, but that is only because he has never played this amount of football consecutively before in his career at this level.

"So the repeating of matches is something he has never had to do and also being called into the international set-up, he has never had to deal with that, travelling away to Greece with the Irish squad and having to come back and play on a Saturday - its hard- so he has dipped a couple of times."

Partridge insists it is still his dream to play regularly for Liverpool but he is realistic enough to see the need he has for first team football.

He said: "It is every kid's dream to play in the Premiership and that's still where my dream lies, but outside of the top flight, Coventry would be my first choice every time so we will have to wait and see what happens."
