McAllister rejects new offer

Liverpool midfielder Gary McAllister looks set to turn down the invitation for him to come out of retirement for Scotland because he says he's too old.

New Scotland boss Bertie Vogts was hoping McAllister would have a change of heart following his decision to quit 2-years ago but his offer appears to have fallen on deaf ears.

"I will be 38 by the time Scotland play their next game and I can't look that far forward," said McAllister.

"When you get to my age you can't think what you will be doing in six months time. I can't imagine what I'll be doing at club level, never mind international level and by the time the next European finals come round I will be over 39."
