McAuley happy with performance

The reserves could only draw 0-0 with Bolton at the Racecourse but McAuley was satisfied with what he saw on the pitch.

"I thought it was a really good game of football with some good attacking play and the Bolton keeper had a great game," McAuley told the official site.

"We competed well and worked hard and were unfortunate not to win the game but we can take a lot of positives from it.

"I thought Miki Roque did well at centre half and was solid all night alongside Daniel Agger. Our goalkeeper David Martin didn't have a lot to do but he handled the ball well from crosses and his distribution was excellent."
