The reserves finally beat Burnley thanks to a Daniel Pacheco free-kick in injury time and after the game McMahon praised his players for playing to win right up until the final whistle.

"The team spirit, the desire and the passion is unquestionable in this group. Any footballer must have that. But it's nice to see such a good togetherness, which you could see from the goal celebration," said the reserves boss.

"It was a great finish to the game, but overall we are a bit disappointed to be honest. We set high standards here and we spoke about consistency before the game.

"It's difficult for young lads sometimes but we expect eights out of 10 for performance and not sixes and fives. I felt there were too many sixes and fives against Burnley."
