He says: "For Liverpool, it is more than just a derby. I think they realise they can't lose many more games this season if they are to win the title, so there is a lot riding on it. And I know that Liverpool still think they can win the title so there is all to play for.
"I'm really looking forward to it. I still keep in touch while I am in Madrid, and I am hoping to be there on Sunday because we have a Christmas break coming up so I'm coming home for the match - flights permitting.
"Even though I'm in Madrid Liverpool will always be in my heart and I always look out for both teams. I am hoping Liverpool will go on and win the league this season - and I still think they can - but I also hope Everton maintain their revival as well. It is always a better derby when both teams are doing well.
"They are always barmy affairs, but the stakes are so much higher this time. Imagine what it will be like if your team loses and you spend the whole Christmas with that hanging over you. It doesn't bear thinking about."
