Mellor appeal fails

Mellor was on a season long loan at West Ham but returned to Liverpool early after failing to settle in London. Both West Ham and the Premier League were happy to allow Mellor to play for Liverpool again this season but red tape from the Football League was holding him back.

Liverpool appealled against the decision but were unsuccessful and now Mellor's season is effectively over.

Liverpool Chief Executive Rick Parry is still trying to seek permission for Mellor to play in reserve games.
