Mellor said: "I want to play well in the reserves and finish the top scorer in our league for the second year running.
"After that, I'll be looking forward to having a good pre-season and making a good impression in our friendly games - then we'll see what happens.
"The boss has been brilliant to me since I've been at Melwood. He took me to one side and told me he believed in me and my chance would come.
"Since Christmas, I've been named in every squad. I've heard about clubs trying to sign me on loan, but the boss has told me he would rather I developed my game at Melwood."
