Mellor won't celebrate goal

The former Red will line up against his old club for Preston in this afternoon's FA Cup third round tie. Although Mellor will be hoping to impress and help the Championship side into the fourth round, he admits he won't be able to celebrate should he scores past Diego Cavalieri.

"Will I celebrate if I score? No way. Not at all," said the striker and Preston's top scorer.

"Obviously it is something I am desperate to do on a personal and professional level.

"Anyone who scores against Liverpool would be made up. But if I do score, there is no way I'll celebrate. That's for sure.

"I'd be pleased for myself but I'd show respect to the club and the fans.

'I learned everything I know at Liverpool and had some great times there. It would be disrespectful for me to celebrate scoring against them.

"I'd love to score and for Preston to win but I'd settle for grabbing a couple in a 2-2 draw and take them back to Anfield."
