Mexes deal refused

The players controversial transfer from Auxerre to Roma last year resulted in a fine and restrictions on any future moves. However, with those restrictions temporarily lifted, the Reds were thought to be making a move for the player.

But Roma boss Luciano Spalletti diffused any interest from the Reds, making it clear that Mexes is key to his future plans.
