Midfielder back in training

Welsh, who broke a toe against Runcorn in the Liverpool Senior Cup a month ago returned to training yesterday.

Welsh was set to go on loan to Sunderland for the rest of the season just before his injury so the break was doubly disappointing.

Said Welsh: "It's been a disappointing end to the season for me and to be honest I'll be glad when it's over.

"The injury came at a bad time. A loan move to Sunderland would have given me the chance to get some valuable first team experience under my belt and I would have liked to have gone up there.

"I'm ready to start training again now but there's not much left of this season so I'll have to set my sights on the start of next season, when hopefully I can try and force my way into the first team reckoning again."
