Midfielder facing up to life away from Anfield

Although Leeds are demanding a cash fee from Liverpool for Lee Bowyer, Nick Barmby could still end up making the switch to Yorkshire for a fee of around £4million paid in installments.

As first revealed on Kop Talk last year, Barmby is unhappy at Anfield at the lack of first team opportunities when fit and with Leeds just round the corner from his base at Hull, a new challenge would interest him (although he would rather stay).

The general feeling amongst Liverpool fans, which includes ourselves, is that Barmby hasn't really had a fair crack of the whip due to his injuries and that he should be retained for now as there are for more deserving candidates that could be axed instead. Saying that Gerard Houllier obviously knows the circumstances surrounding Barmby more than any of us who can only speculate as to why the player is available.
