Milan dreaming of Barca switch

The 23-year-old Czech forward brought his talents to the attention of the Catalan club with a series of impressive displays in gaining the much-coveted Golden Boot at Euro 2004.

The arrival of former Valencia supremo Rafael Benitez had appeared to have calmed Baros's first-team fears, but the 'Ostravan Maradona' candidly reveals that he still dreams of gracing the Nou Camp pitch in his career.

Baros said: "I always wanted to play in the English league and I had one club, Barcelona. My first dream is done.

"I am happy I can play for Liverpool. It's a big club with great fans. I like everything here. But you can't be with Liverpool for 10 or 12 years. That doesn't happen in football, you change a club and you will leave. Everyone changes a club in his career.

"I wanted to leave in the summer if the manager did not change. I wanted to go, but after I came back there was a new manager and a new situation.

"The manager Rafa Benitez asked me about the future, not about the past. He just asked me what would happen if Barcelona came in. We just spoke like that.

"I don't know what is happening now. I said to the manager if somebody else came in I wanted to stay, but if it was Barcelona it would be nice to go there. I told him when I was a kid it was my dream to play for Barcelona. To move to them would be nice, but if not I will stay here. I will fight for my place and do my best for Liverpool.

"I think Liverpool need more than two strikers. We are going to play so many games. You can't play all the season with two strikers, you need at least four. We will see who is going to play and how the manager is going to change the strikers."
