The exciting Czech forward has been sidelined since early September after breaking an ankle in an unfortunate clash with Blackburn's on-loan Anfield defender Markus Babbel during the Reds' 3-1 victory at Ewood Park.

It was initially thought that the 22-year-old would be out of action until at least the New Year, but Baros has today revealed that he could well be ready to contest for a first-team place in just over a month.

Baros said:"I have started running again now so everything is progressing really well. I still think it will be four weeks before I'm able to kick the ball in training. But I would say I'm ahead of schedule and will be back sooner than I first thought.

"Originally I thought I wouldn't be playing until January but I'm hoping it will be around Christmas time."
