The 24-year-old Bootle lad made his debut for the Reds in a League Cup game with Middlesbrough in January 1997, and has become a regular in the side under Gerard Houllier, captaining the side in Sami Hyypia's absence.
"Obviously I'm very proud to have played so many games for Liverpool and I'm still only 24 so hopefully I've got a lot more left in me," he said.
"But it won't feel much of an achievement if we don't get a result on Sunday."
Like the rest of the squad Carragher cannot understand the reasons for the club's recent dip in form, but has no doubt in Houllier's abilities to turn things around.
"The manager is getting a lot of unfair stick. This is the same team that came second in the Premiership and reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League last season. The only changes have been to add to the squad.
"We haven't just become a bad team like that. Every one of the lads is looking at the situation and wondering what's happened. It's down to us to perform like we've shown we can over the last two years.
