Mohamed Salah Cools Premier League Title Talk Ahead of Crunch Clash With Manchester City

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has insisted that it is far too early to discuss the Reds' chances of winning the Premier League, even if they are able to beat Manchester City this weekend.

The pair fought it out last season in a gripping title race, with Pep Guardiola's side eventually prevailing by just one point.

However, this season, Jurgen Klopp's men are currently unbeaten in the league after 11 games and find themselves six-points clear of their title rivals heading into this weekend's crucial clash.

The importance of a win for either side cannot be understated, but Salah has been quick to rubbish talk of the title race being over, even if his side are able to overcame the Citizens at Anfield on Sunday.

"They were talking about that [title race] in December last year when we were six or seven points ahead saying it was over," Salah told Sky Sports.

"It's not over, it's three games. If you have a bad period you can be in trouble again. Even if we win it's still a long way, it's only November and way too early to talk about the Premier League."

The Egyptian ended the 2018/19 campaign as the joint-top goalscorer in the league, having scored 22 goals in 38 games. The 27-year-old also netted five times in the Champions League, helping guide the Reds to glory.

While Liverpool remain unbeaten in the league, Salah's form has been questioned by some in recent weeks, having only managed to find net five times in the league from ten games played.

However, the former Chelsea man was quick to reiterate that he does not think about what people expect of him, adding: "To be honest I don't care about what people expect from me. As long as I'm scoring and the team is winning it's fine.

"I don't have to care about what people expect from me. That can put too much pressure on you and make you perform badly."

Klopp has recently claimed that Sunday's tussle is most certainly a 'want to win game', and the manager will be hoping his star players - including Salah - can help produce a positive result.
