"It saddens me the way Liverpool are now," said the former Reds midfielder. "At the end of this season you will be looking at 14 years without Liverpool winning the title.

"There's a whole generation of football fans growing up not realising what Liverpool was all about.

"When I was there you would never have thought this would happen. It was unthinkable. You believed it would never end

"The success started in the mid-60's and survived the 70's and 80's and you were thinking this was going to go on and on, but it didn't.

"That total domination Liverpool had will be impossible to reach again. Manchester United had it for a while, but they are being challenged now by Arsenal and Chelsea.

"What's being said about Houllier isn't fair but he has to accept someof the blame. He wants to be judged in May. If he's fourth in the Premiership I think he'll settle for that."

Will Liverpool win on Sunday?
