Moores the merrier for Houllier

Recent comments attributed to Moores stating that Champions League qualification is the 'minimum target' at Liverpool have added to the intense pressure being placed upon Houllier after a series of disappointing displays which have left the Reds languishing in ninth position in the Premiership.

While Moores bid to relieve such pressure may be seen as the dreaded vote of confidence - so often swiftly followed by the axe falling on the manager - the Anfield chairman has made clear his intention to stand by a beleaguered Houllier.

Moores said:"We have every confidence in Gerard. The subject of his future has not been discussed - nor do we intend to discuss it."
