The latest player to add to the list is Steven Gerrard, who was stretchered off during England's game with Macedonia on Wednesday night.

The midfielder picked up a hip injury during the second half of the game and is dountful for the trip to Elland Road at the weekend.

"I'm in a bit of pain," he said after the game.

"I took a nasty bang on the hip and I might struggle for the weekend. I went up for a header and took an elbow or a leg and it's right on the bone. I couldn't carry on."

Emile Heskey is still struggling with a groin strain picked up on international duty this week, and both players will have late fitness tests before the game.
