Mourinho 'welcomes' Gerrard swoop

With Roman Abromovich ready to bankroll any potential move for the 24-year-old England midfielder, the Champions League-winning former FC Porto coach has revealed that he would be more than happy to work with Gerrard.

Mourinho, speaking to Radio 5 Live, said: "The only thing I can say is if he comes I will welcome him with open arms. If he doesn’t come, I will admire him exactly the same. I wish him all the best even if he stays where he is at Liverpool."
