Munich refute Babbel rumours

The former German international has struggled to recapture the form that made him such an Anfield hero before his career was interrupted by serious illness. Two dismissals in reserve games have only served to highlight the utter frustration Babel is feeling at this time. A move away from Anfield seems likely but 1860 Munich insist they will not be bringing the 30-year-old back to his homeland.

1860's managing director Karl-Heinz Wildmoser has said: "That is pure speculation. He's got a contract at Liverpool and even if he was available for nothing, I'm sure we wouldn't be able to afford his wages."
