Murphy hoping for UEFA success

Murphy feels Liverpool can overcome recent disappointments and claim a quarter final place - possibly against Scottish Champions Celtic.

He said: "The UEFA Cup means a lot to us. We know what it is like to win it and I can honestly say lifting the trophy a couple of years ago was one of the best moments of my career. We all want to do that again.

"It's important we win this game to help build our confidence. I think we have played better in the last month or two. We have certainly picked up more points in the Premiership.

"We're still going for a Champions League place, we're one game away from the quarter final of the UEFA Cup and we're in the final of the Worthington Cup. It's not that drastic.

"Our problem has been maintaining a high level in our performances. When you play at this level twice a week it's hard to maintain consistency and that is something we certainly need to improve. As players we have to start producing more week in and week out."
