Nando hoping for cup success

Liverpool have not seen the best of Morientes since his £6m move from Real Madrid but the Spaniard is desperate to be a success at Anfield and hopes tomorrow's FA Cup final against West Ham will be the beginning of a successful period as a Liverpool player.

"It's fair to say people have not seen the real Fernando Morientes since I arrived here in England. Saturday provides the stage for me to announce myself and I have got a real desire to take that chance. What better time than Saturday to go and do it?" says the Spanish international.

"I don't think it could possibly be my last game here at all. I said halfway through the season that I am about halfway through my job here. I have got two years left on my contract and unless anything out of the ordinary happens I see myself starting the next season at Liverpool.

"I'm on a journey with Liverpool. I am only halfway through my journey and I would like to reproduce the form that I had at Real Madrid and Monaco.

"I would like to my finish my career in England, but you never know what is ahead in football.

"I had 14 happy years in Spain, but I don't ever plan to go back as a footballer. I came to England because I saw it as my chance at this stage of my career to enrich myself as a player and a person.

"I've been aware that I haven't recently been hitting the level of performance I achieved when I was with Real Madrid and Monaco. But I feel I've still got a lot to offer and I'm going to produce that.

"I don't think it's more complicated to score in the Premiership. I don't think there is any real difference between England and Spain."
