Nervy finish worried Rafa

Two goals from Peter Crouch and one from Luis Garcia had put the Reds in a seemingly unassailable 3-0 lead. However, two headers from subsitute Umit Karan brought Galatasary back into the game and meant a nervy finish for the Reds.

"It was a very difficult game. I had confidence at 3-0, but I was worried at the end," said Rafael Benitez.

"After we had conceded the fourth goal [of the match] we were under pressure all the time. We couldn't score the fourth goal and we were under pressure.

"They knew that the game was finished and they decided to play with two strikers, two wingers and play really, really high.

"Sometimes when you go too high you leave space, it was an open game, as a manager you don't like open games, especially when you are leading 3-0.

"The most important thing was the three points, it was more difficult than we expected at the end, but we have the three points and we are top of the group."
