Fans will be asked how they make their way to the current stadium in order for the club to satisfy stadium planners. 6,000 supporters have already been consulted through notices in the official programme. Liverpool FC will use the information to study the travel habits of the Anfield crowd.

Rick Parry believes this is another important step in the bid to create a new home for the Reds.

He said: "This survey is just part of a large amount of research which is going into the planning of our new stadium.

"We need to be sure that we understand how traffic flows in and out of the area and how people travel to and from the stadium in order to satisfy the planners that this process can be managed effectively.

"We are investing in the local area, not just financially but as part of a community, and we will continue to seek the views of fans and local residents as an important part of the planning process."
