New knee worry for Partridge

The Liverpool midfielder had just returned from a nine month lay-off following a knee injury, but it is hoped this latest setback will not be as serious.

He said:"I twisted my knee in the first half and couldn't continue. I'm hoping I will only be out for a week, I'm just hoping for some good news."

Partridge will be checked out today at Melwood to determine the severity of the injury.

The match ended goalless, largely due to the superb performance of Paul Harrison in the Liverpool net, who made three outstanding saves.

Newcastle reserve Tony Caig also excelled, stopping several shots from a lively Neil Mellor.
