Newcastle to go all out for win

If Newcastle had beaten Southampton last night then Saturday's game at Anfield would have had extra importance as 4th place would be resting on it. However, since the 3-3 last night Liverpool have sown up 4th spot already.

Newcastle will still be going all out to win this weekend however, as a failure to do so could see them miss out on a UEFA cup spot. If Newcastle lose and Aston Villa win on Saturday there will be no European football at St James Park next season, a scenario which has Newcastle manager Bobby Robson insisting his side will be coming to Anfield for a win.

Robson said: "It will be a disaster if we finish sixth. I am hurting very much. It has been a difficult season and we have had injuries at the wrong time.

"It is a blow and it's disappointing. It is a blow financially and from our reputation point of view but it's not the end of the club.

"We have not played well enough away from home. We have missed chances and given away silly goals. Even if we don't get into Europe, we have been in the last four of a European competition and the club has come a long way since I took over four years ago.

"We can still qualify for the UEFA Cup and Saturday at Liverpool is a massive match for us."
