No aid for stadium share bid

With the majority of Liverpool fans strongly opposed to a groundshare with the Blues and Rick Parry already on record as saying the club are intent on building their own new stadium, this latest news from the North West Development Agency will surely bring to an end Everton's aspirations.

Steve Broomhead, NWDA chief executive, said: "We would not put any of our resources into the cost of constructing a shared stadium.

"Our interest is not putting money into the stadium itself but in helping to upgrade the community facilities, transport infrastructure and housing around the stadium. The £20m from ourselves, Europe and elsewhere, would be used for that."
