No Heinze move

Rafael Benitez wanted the Argentinian defender to become the first player to move directly between Liverpool and Manchester United since Phil Chisnall left Man Utd to join the Reds' reserve team in 1962. However, a move is unlikely after Alex Ferguson refused to sell the player to Liverpool.

"I can assure you, Liverpool will not be getting Gabriel Heinze. We can put that to bed right now and we have done so. We have had a couple offers for him and we have turned them down," said the red nosed Man Utd manager.
