No major departures

Despite the media constantly linking Peter Crouch with a move away from Anfield, and John Arne Riise and Momo Sissoko also linked with moves away from the club, Rafael Benitez says there will be no major departures in January.

"We aren't thinking about selling anyone at the moment. If someone wants to leave, now is not the time. Summer will be easier," said the Spaniard.

"We will try to say no to anyone leaving, but if someone offers £40million for someone, maybe we need to think about it. It depends on the situation.

"But the thing about that is that if we sell, we will need to bring in another player to keep our squad as strong."
