No secret to Baros success

English media in particular has been left startled by the blistering form of a 22-year-old who failed to displace the much-maligned Emile Heskey in the Reds side last season and scored just twice in a campaign severely bligted by injury and frustrating spells on the bench.

Once dubbed the 'Ostravan Maradona' in his homeland, it comes as little surprise to Bruckner that Baros has made such a memorable impact in Portugal this summer.

Bruckner said: "I don't see why people seem to think I have some kind of secret with Baros.

"He has a very big instinct for scoring goals and I find it quite natural that he has become the top scorer in the competition.''
