Norway friendly to go ahead

It was suggested that the Reds' friendly in Oslo could be called off after Friday's terrorist attacks. However, Liverpool have huge support in Norway, with a 25,000 sell-out crowd expected and the club will not be looking to disappoint them.

"At this stage there is nothing to indicate the game will not go ahead," said a club spokesman.

"Everyone at the football club was shocked to hear the news and see the television pictures coming out of Norway," said managing director Ian Ayre.

"Some of our most passionate fans are Norwegian and we count them as friends as well as supporters.

"The team is due to play in Norway on August 1. Ahead of that, we want our fans to know we are thinking of them at this terrible time."
