O'Neill backs Reds revival

The Celtic boss, so often linked with athe Anfield hotseat before Benitez was lured from Valencia, believes that the Spaniard has inherited a squad capable of launching a challenge for trophies in the forthcoming campaign.

O'Neill said: "Rafael Benítez's record at Valencia is absolutely fantastic. It's big news that Steven Gerrard is staying, Michael Owen too.

"The boy (Djibril) Cisse's arrived and they've got plenty of good players remaining from Houllier's reign. I would not discount Liverpool."
