Despite speculation about a possible move south, O'Neill issued a statement at the time, announcing his commitment to the Glasgow club.
But the Daily Record claimed O'Neill had signed a contract with Liverpool, causing the Irishman to take legal action.
"These allegations which questioned his loyalty and commitment to Celtic and integrity were republished widely through the print and broadcast media and have caused Mr O'Neill to issue further denials," said O'Neill's solicitor Paul Hackney.
