"Earlier in the week, I honestly thought Jon was on his way back to Liverpool and that we'd seen the last of him," said Taylor.
"Then, suddenly, Liverpool faxed us with the various papers and now he's going to stay. They're obviously happy, Jon's happy and so are we.
"He's done very well for us. He's a big, powerful lad. I always knew he could defend but he's very strong in the air and is a threat at set pieces.
"It's a bonus that he's available again and for me, he should improve our chances of rounding off the season well."
